Nightscapes

Do you have those friends that are down for any adventure? Those classic old mates that are down for driving long hours, having that make-it-up-as-you-go mindset, and always ready to laugh things off no matter the condition? Friends that don’t mind freezing their fingers raw while climbing in the middle of the cold, dark night and holding a particular position for 30+ seconds at a time… just so you can practice night photography? Yeah, those are the type of friends that make life a journey and without them life wouldn’t make quite as much sense. I am blessed to say that I have a group of companions that are just like what I described above. Adventuring buddies that not only support my crazy ideas but are willing to help me accomplish them. On this latest trip to Alabama Hills, I had an image in my mind that I wanted to capture—a silhouette of a climber up top of the ever-so-unique Sharks Fin rock. My buddies jumped in, no questions asked, to help bring this image to life. Cold fingers, numb toes, chills, and many thrills later brought us success out in the high desert with the Sierra Nevada mountains as our backdrop. Sometimes the best moments are the ones that start out as a crazy idea and end with friends that are “all in.” Here’s to those friends that help make all of our wildest dreams and ideas comes true.
